Welcome to Northwest Little League’s registration for the fall 2018 season of the Challenger Division For Special Needs Children. Since 1983, the Challenger program has offered physically and mentally challenged youngsters an opportunity to play baseball. There are no applicable “boundaries” since NWLL has the only such program in the District.
The rules and spirit of our Challenger program are designed to spur friendly competition and instill the love of baseball in the players. Challenger players are teamed up with players from NWLL’s Majors Division, who serve as “buddies” and help with fielding and hitting. Fun is the main goal!
The Challenger program is open to boys and girls ages 4-18, or up to the age of 22 if still enrolled in school. Games will be played weekly on Sunday afternoons at Friendship Field (45th ST and Van Ness, NW). The cost for the season is $25 with fee waivers available as needed. NWLL has a new online registration system for the Challenger Division. Please register at nwlldc.org before the season starts.
Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Challenger League’s commissioner (email@example.com) or the NWLL registrar.
NWLL is pleased to offer a hitting clinic with Coach Pete.
- Stay Short, Stay Quick
* Learn basic swing mechanics, and practice technique, to help improve your contact percentages.
Dates: Saturday, September 22nd & 29th, October 6th, 13th & 20th 2018
Place: Palisades Recreation Field
Cost: $25 per session - Please register so Coach Pete can get an accurate headcount. Contact the registrar for assistance or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Details: The sessions will begin with a 15 minute warm-up and stretch, and end with a 15 minute session review.
We will review and break down your swing, so that you will have a better understanding of how each part of your body functions towards creating a better swing: from bat grip, to plate approach, to contact point. We will take many swings, so make sure to wear batting gloves.
All players will be expected to come to the clinic with their bat, batting gloves, and a thirst for learning.
Our goal, is for you to leave the sessions with a better knowledge of what it takes to make consistent contact, and to become a better batter.
We look forward to seeing you there!
